The message I sent last night in desperation looks very unclear to me
this morning, let me try to improve it.
So, what I want to do is: my PWS running 4.0D PK #3 dials into a
Lantronix LRS-16 (serial port concentrator with external modems, PPP,
etc., etc.) authenticates itself using PAP or CHAP or just scripting
(they all work fine) then the LRS drops the line and dials me back.
Now, this is where the crunch is. PWS -> LRS works fine except that I
pay the phone bill... what I would dearly like is to know if there is
a script out there which will allow the callback to work.
A bit of diagnostics: the LRS server supports CBCP which is an M$
extension to the PPP protocol (suprise...) but it is *not* necessary
for dialback as all it does it allow you to specify the phone number
you wish to be called back on thereby defeating the purpose of
dialback security... The PAP and CHAP negotiations going in work fine,
I have ppp waiting for a callback (just waiting for 'RING' on the line
and then issuing an ATA to pick up) but then the PPP negotiation seems
to fail.
Hope this clarifies matters. If anyone has a valid callback config
they wish to share, even if it isn't into a Lantronix box I would be
particularly grateful to recieve a copy.
Ciao,
Arrigo
