It appears that under Digital UNIX 4.0D patch kit 3, when a user logs in via
CDE that the /etc/profile (/etc/csh.login) and .profile (.login and/or
.chsrc) scripts are being run when they shouldn't. According to the
documentation, the user's .profile (.login and/or .cshrc) file should only
be run if the environment variable DTSOURCEPROFILE is set to true in their
.dtprofile. The problem is that when they login via CDE, the /etc/profile
(/etc/csh.login) script is being run (which it should never be according to
the CDE documentation) and the environment variable DTSOURCEPROFILE is
commentted out (i.e. set to false) in the user's .dtprofile. This problem
appears to be unique to Digital UNIX. HP-UX does not demonstrate this
problem.
Does anyone know the fix for this.
