I had thought this would have been an easy one to solve. So after an
extensive search of the archives (and not finding anything relevent)
here's my problem:
We have upgraded a dec PW500 to an XP1000. Now the PW500 had two
internal drives and one external drive on a wide-16 SCSI interface
card; these drives are to be moved to the XP1000.
Opening up the XP1000 I discovered that, unlike the PW500, there was an
interal wide-16 scsi interface, so I put the two internal drives on
that; the external drive I connected to the interface card which I also
moved to the xp1000.
Now 'show dev' and 'show config' both report the two scsi buses,
with the correct drives being connected to the bus)
pka -> dk0 (internal system disk)
dk200 (two new
dk400 drives from the pw500)
pkb -> dkb0 (SEAGATE ST423451W) (external drive)
However, when I boot the system, I only see the three internal drives!
'Show config' reports the card (ISP 1020, same as the internal card)
but it does not appear in any of the boot messages, and neither does
the drive.
What's going on here? Any suggestions? I will of course summarize...
many thanks,
