Hi Managers;

We've an AS 4100 with two cpu's and 1GB memory, Running 4.0 E TRU64
unix, The system disk is 4 GB and is mirrored using raid 1, the data
disks are 5* 9GB disks as a raid 5 strip set with parity + one 9 GB as a
hot spare.

We had so many problems before when we tried to run the Netscape proxy
server as the file system was giving false alarms about the file system
is full and we discovered that only the BMT was getting exhausted
(fragmented) due to the large No. of files.

We had to use some parameters while building the file domain as per
digital support advise (in the gold old days!):-
#mkfdmn -p 131072 -x 65536 ........

Now we plan to run (post.office) mail server on it and I need some
advises from you guys, about that configuration as I've been told that
the No. of files may reach 2,000,000 or more.

1- Are these parameters enough or should I add any thing else (increase
them)?

2- Is it ok to use the disks as a raid 5 and one partition as we need
all the space under one file system or should I use more than one
partition and just add the volumes to the same file domain.(We have the
Advfs utilities License)?

Any other suggestions are most welcome and please excuse my english...
