Hi Ray,
     We had the same problem after installing duv40eas00002-19990617 patch
kit, all it needed was a kernel rebuild, which apparently you're supposed
to do after each patch kit installation.
Hope this helps.

Regards,
     Andy.

I have been tasked with installing Java 1.2.1 on a Digital 433au
workstation
running Tru64 4.0E.

The web page says install relevant patches and then Java, so I installed
all
140 patches from duv40eas0002-19990617.tar.gz, uninstalled Java 1.1.6,
installed Java 1.2.1 and made 1.2.1 the default installation.

$ setld -i | grep Java
JAVA121 installed Java 1.2.1-2 Environment (General
Applications)
JAVAAPIDOC121 installed Java 1.2.1-1 Online API Documentation(API
Doc Kit)
JAVADEV121 installed Java 1.2.1-2 Development

OSFJAVADEV435 Java 1.1.6-2 Development
Environment(Software Development)
OSFJAVADOC435 Java 1.1.6-2 Online Documentation
(Supplemental Documentation)

While testing, I get the following error from javac, java, rmic and rmid:

DECthreads init failure, version mismatch:
        kernel version 1, library version 10001 -- application must be
relinked.
%DECthreads bugcheck (version V3.15-413), terminating execution.
% Reason: vpInit: DECthreads library incompatible with OS version
% Running on OSF1 V4.0 on , 512Mb; 1 CPUs

It would seem that one of the patches loaded libraries that are
incompatible
with Java.

$ setld -i | grep Library

I am stuck as to where to go from here.
