I am about to upgrade an 8400 to V4.0e + patch kit ?? as a precursor to EV6
CPU upgrades. I have just seen and downloaded patch kit 2 for 4.0e.
We have a strict internal policy about Y2K stuff with well documented
procedures (which I wont go into here). We have internally certified Dunix
V4.0e + patch kit 1.
Has anybody seen a documented statement which says that patch kit 2 for 4.0e
is Y2K compliant (I don't doubt that it is, since we all know that 4.0d plus
patch kits was Y2K safe)? I need to see something in writing which refers
to this patch kit + base o/s release however.
I have had a trawl through the Compaq web site. The nearest thing I can see
is a glossy which related to V4.0D
http://www.unix.digital.com/unix/year2000/compaq-yr2000.pdf
The reference page at
http://www.unix.digital.com/unix/year2000/index.html
only makes reference to V4.0D, noting on V4.0e here.
The bit under the Y2K white paper
http://www.unix.digital.com/unix/year2000/whitepaper.html says the
following: "This document contains information about the Year 2000 program
for Compaq's Tru64 UNIX (formerly DIGITAL UNIX) and associated layered
products, including the Year 2000 readiness of DIGITAL UNIX Version 4.0D
(available since January 19, 1998) and subsequent releases. Specific Year
2000 updates and features included in DIGITAL UNIX Version 4.0D are detailed
and testing methodologies and guidelines are provided. Information about
Year 2000 enhancements for prior versions of DIGITAL UNIX is also provided."
Again, no mention here of 4.0e + patch kits but a reference to "subsequent
releases"...
The white paper says this: "Year 2000 Patches for DIGITAL UNIX Version 4.0D
- The following Y2K enhancements were provided after DIGITAL UNIX Version
4.0D shipped and are available in the current patch kit for Version 4.0D.
These enhancements are also included in Version
4.0E and later. /usr/bin/at - The /usr/bin/at command was not properly
handling the date, February 29, 2000 (leap year 2000). Jobs specified for
this date would erroneously be scheduled for March 1, 2000 instead. This
problem has been fixed and is available in the latest DIGITAL UNIX Version
4.0D patch kit. strftime() (standard C library) blah blah..."
A tenuous reference to 4.0e. I'm after a more firm statement.
As I say, I don't doubt the Y2K safe status, but I need to see a firm
reference to something in writing which says it.
Any help would be appreciated.
