I have created an alias file to be included in the main alias file.
When I run the newalias command I get the message:
WARNING: Group writable directory /var
/usr/adm/sendmail/aliases: 11 aliases, longest 39 bytes, 266 bytes total
Although it gives the warning it seems to work. Here is the
permissions for /var
bash-2.02# ls -l /var
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root system 7 Oct 1 1998 /var -> usr/var
I am not sure why this is set up as a link. Is that typical?
When I try to use one of the included alaises to notify users of a
coming upgrade it got bounced back to me with these messages:
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
allusers
:include:/usr/local/lib/allusers.list
(expanded from: allusers)
----- Transcript of session follows -----
550 :include:/usr/local/lib/allusers.list... Cannot open /usr/local/lib/allusers.list: Group writable directory
554 allusers... aliasing/forwarding loop broken
Again permissions ...
-rw-r--r-- 1 root system 1853 Aug 5 17:52 /usr/local/lib/allusers.list
