Managers,
We currently have a cluster running DU V4.0D & TruCluster 1.5 on AS
4100s with DS-BA356 UtlraSCSI pedistal shelves containing DS-RZS2DF-
VW UltraSCSI disks. When we built this configuration last year we
had to use KZPSA-BB SCSI adapters because KZPBA-CB UltraSCSI adapters
were not supported in a TruCluster ASE environment.
The KZPBA-CB UltraSCSI adapters are now supported with TruCluster
with the following requirements:
1. Patch Kit 3 must be installed
2. KZPBA-CB requires ISP 1020/1040 firmware Version 5.57, available
with the system SRM console firmware on the Alpha Systems Firmware
5.3 CD.
We wanted to replace the KZPSA-BB SCSI adapters in one machine with
KZPBA-CB UltraSCSI adapters to get faster I/O. The 2nd machine is a
backup machine only & we were not concerned about replacing the SCSI
adapters in this machine at this time.
We came in Saturday & installed Patch Kit 3, replaced the SCSI
adapters & upgraded the firmware from the 5.3 CD.
Now the problem.
We entered "show fru" to ensure that the machine saw the new
UltraSCSI adapters & everything looked fine.
We entered "show device" to verify that the disks were all there.
The display showed the new UltraSCSI adapter, but was unable to show
the disks. The display would just hang at this point.
At this point we even brought down the 2nd machine & power cycled
both machines & the shelves to ensure that everything was reset with
the same result.
We finally put the old SCSI adapters back in & returned to normal
operation.
Has anyone out there had any experience with this sort of thing?
