Hello,
We are upgrading our disk controllers and were given this brief walk
thru of steps to complete this upgrade. Does anyone have any warnings or
comments about this procedure, or ways to make it go
smoother?

Here is the procedure we were given.
Upgrading AlphaServer 1000A 5/333 fro KZPSA to KZPBA-CB controllers.
Digital Unix 4.0D
Cluster Configuration, 2 nodes SCSI connected to HSZ50 Raid Controller

1.) Go to single user mode
2.) Save current kernel configuration file
3.) copy Generic Kernel (genvmunix) to boot kernel
4.) shutdown & power off
5.) remove KZPSA and insert KZPBA in it's place
6.) boot into single user mode (how do we do this?)
7.) run "doconfig" to build new kernel config file (what's the file &
how
to compare in single user mode?)
8.) somehow compare "old" kernel config file to new one from "doconfig"
9.) copy and differences into "old" kernel file
10.) build a new kernel with "old" kernel file (it'll have any new items
in
it)
11.) boot single user
12.) verify disks exist
13.) reboot multi user
14.) done

Thanks for any help
