The general consensus was to use the hosts.lpd file, found in the man page
for lpd, to limit access. It was also suggest to set up a group and limit
there. Also, using LPRng, which is available from:
http://www.astart.com/lprng/LPRng.html
was suggested. Unfortunately they all run on unix, which I realize is the
purpose of this list. LPR used by the Mac prints directly to the ip
address, which we didn't know until after I sent the request. Since it
doesn't go through a server to print to the printer none of the options
suggested will work for us. Thanks for the replies though.
