After going through a long night last night in failed attempts at using
NetWorker 5.2 on an AlphaServer 8200 to restore some files that were lost
on a Solaris client's disk, we are now fed up with NetWorker, its high
cost, and poor reliability, and lousy tech support. Since we are about to
receive a new server and tape silo to use just for our backup needs, we
want to see what Legato's competition looks like.
I have heard people discuss Veritos. Is this a viable option to NetWorker?
Our environment consists of a mix of Mac, NT, TruCluster, and Unix
workstation backup clients. We need something that we can trust
implicitly to handle our backups and restores quickly, reliably, with
minimal human intervention, at reasonable cost along with reasonably
priced tech support options. Does Veritos offer this? If not, can anyone
suggest any other alternatives?
