Hi again managers,
I have some problems trying to compile the kernel. I have some hardware
on our AS4100 with DU4.0D that we are not using for the moment so I want
to compile a kernel without that hardware options and others in order to
get better performance. I have saved /vmunix file, executed doconfig
command and edited my configuration file (/usr/sys/conf/<my-hostname>)
taking out (with # at beginning of each line) the options for ATM among
others so I compiled the kernel succesfully.
After place the new vmunix in / and reboot I saw that the / filesystem
was freed in about 40 MB. My previous /vmunix was 11 MB and the new one
9 MB so the others 38 MB smelled me to a problem. Among the message on
booting I saw something about ATM so I executed doconfig again because
I thought that I forgot to comment something but was not so and I tried
to compiled the kernel with the same options as before but this time
doconfig was unable to compile and show me several errors regarding about
atm libraries. Well.. I restored the old configuration file (with all the
options that had my first kernel), tried to compile and the same errors
I got.. so now I can not compile any kernel with any configuration. It
seems that in the free space I talked before was taken out some libraries
or object files regarding things that I commented such atm.
I can not figure out why in the compiling is trying to use atm files
if I am sure to have taken out all the options about atm.
So the question.. how can I compile a kernel whithout that options?
Thanks in advance and please excuse me if my english is not correct,
