Clustered Oracle file systems

Question: Does anybody cluster the oracle binaries directory (usually named
/dba) as a part of the ASE service? Our database is free to move back and
forth between systems, but our previous dba put local /dba's on each system.
I'm curious if this is mandatory in Oracle/DEC's configurations.
