Greetings all,
I'm trying to set up our DU4.0* machines to use a remote printer.
Here's the printcap file:
lp0|0|lp:\
:lf=/usr/adm/lp0err:\
:lp=:\
:rm=(machine-name-here):\
:rp=lp:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd0:
This isn't working at all!
Upon submitting a job, it remains in the queue, adn further
if I execute 'lpstat' it will sit there and say:
"waiting for <machine> to come up."
I even put an entry in /etc/hosts to translate the name to an IP number,
and all machines are on same subnet (a.b.c.*)
There may be a router in between the machines, and I can't vouch for what
kind of packets it may or may not be forwarding, but doing a 'traceroute'
from the machine with the printcap to the machine with the printer only
reports one hop.
The machine with the printer is an SGI Indy
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated!
Russ
