I'm looking for some suggestions and/or answers.
We are currently looking to upgrade our Alpha 1000/2XX with OSF v3.0 still
installed. The current SRM version is 2.0.3.
We want to go to the latest O/S verson to be Y2K compliant and we will be
purchasing the ugrade shortly. What I would like to do is install the new
o/s fresh onto an empty disk we have and still leave the 3.0 version on
the existing boot disk, just in case. I just want to see if the new
version will even come up and test some of our applications to see how
things will work.
I know I'm going to need to update the firmware to 5.4 or 5.5 to install
the latest o/s. If I do this can I still boot my OSF 3.0 under the latest
firmware version?
Is there any thing else I should be aware of before upgrading?
This is just a basic ISP system with email services, web server, telnet
access, etc ...
Thanks for any help.
