As to Jon Vaupels' query...

All LED lights on the drives blink on and off during 'fsck', as would be
expected. The negative being... None of them are ON constantly or OFF
constantly.

hard failure
or not, if orange led on may be drive in trouble. would recommend for future
use advfs.
