Hallo managers,

I need help. I am using NIS which distributes the passwd map (and
other maps) to about 24 DU workstations. There is a problem with one
user "bermes_p".

On one client bermes_p is able to login without being ask for a password:

-----------------------------------------------
# telnet goaw19
Trying 192.168.100.106...
Connected to goaw19.
Escape character is '^]'.

Digital UNIX (goaw19) (ttyp2)

login: bermes_p
Last login: Wed Sep 22 09:48:46 from goas03

Digital UNIX V4.0E (Rev. 1091); Fri Apr 9 11:41:58 MET DST 1999

The installation software has successfully installed your system.

Error: Can't open display:
xmodmap: Command not found.
goaw19:bermes_p>

-------------------------------------------------

That is not correct, he should be ask for a password.

On client goaw19:

# ypcat passwd | grep bermes_p
bermes_p:ZAiv8sdXfAkoM:24526:15:P.Bermes:/proe_user/users/bermes_p:/bin/csh
#

/etc/passwd contains no entry for bermes_p.

# grep -i bermes_p /etc/passwd
#

But /etc/passwd.pag contains bermes_p:

# grep -i bermes_p /etc/passwd.pag
bermes_p
/proe_user/users/bermes_p
bebermes_p
/proe_user/users/bermes_p
/bin/cshbermes_p
/proe_user/users/bermbermes_p
/proe_user/users/bermes_p
bermes_bermes_p
/proe_user/users/bermebermes_p
/proe_usebermes_p
/proe_user/users/bermes_p
bermes_p
/proe_user/users/bermes_p
bermes_ptcb
#

What is the meaning of passwd.pag?

Login to other workstation requires a password for bermes_p - which is
correct.

Why does one workstation (goaw19) not require a password ?

Thanks.
