I have several machines that print to HP printers serviced by a HP Jet
Direct (either internal or external).
My print configuration has printers defined as remote printers, some going
direct to NT print servers, others going direct to the jet direct.
My print jobs get spooled correctly (i.e. the cf file lists the correct
number of copies), but the number of copies printed is never correct.
Furthermore, if I submit several jobs, the first one always prints the
correct number of copies, but the following jobs never print the correct
number of copies (if they print at all).
When the master LPD spawns a daemon to handle a spool directory, what is the
process the daemon follows to handle a print job?
This behavior can be controlled. If I stop the printer, let the jobs queue,
and then enable the printer, it prints all jobs correctly. If I leave the
printer enabled, the problem exists as stated above.
I've tried this from several different printers (and jet directs), and the
problem persists - which leads me to believe it is the communication from
the lpd (on Unix) to the remote lpd (both jet direct and NT).
Any help would be appreciated!
