Hi all,
The short answer is that a clone file set of an active Oracle
database is not going to provide a reliable backup. The 2 ways to get
around this are:
1. Shutdown the database, make the clone file set and start it back up
again.
2. Put the tablespaces into backup mode, and force a checkpoint. Then
follow the brown book on Oracle backup and Recovery.
