Hi managers,
I recently had my tru64 4.0e patched up to pkit#2.
Till that time, clonefset was working fine, meaning
that /mnt where the clonefset was mounted was
showing capacity activity (about 50%-80%) with df -k
command. Now even though clonefset doesn't complain
about anything or produce any kinds of errors,
it shows no data activity (0% all the time) and I can
assure you traffic is heavy.
In addition, vdump (the reason for cloning fsets) takes
twice the time it used to prior to patching it up from
pkit#1 to pkit#2. DecEvent doesn't show anything,
the logs are clear, the system activity hasn't changed,
and the data to be backed-up hasn't increased to the
extent to justify the double backup time.
Fragmentation has come accross my mind,
but neither defragment shows any bad signs.
The advfs transaction log is very good, only two extents.
I'm using Oracle dbf files on my advfs volumes, if that helps.
One last question: Should I or shouldn't I run defragment
on 4.0e#2 (AdvFS r436) especialy since I have Oracle DB
on these disks? (I'm a bit confused as to why DEC removed
defragment from the crontable)
Thanks in advance,
Alex
