There are at least 2 manufacturers who are currently making an external IDE
RAID box with a SCSI interface. Does anyone have any experience with these
as the might run under a Unix OS, specifically DU 4.0d?
I have an internal IDE RAID solution for a listserv I manage (RAID 1) on an
NT Wrkstn box and it has worked flawlessly for over a year now. As I
consider adding some storage for temporary processing space (never to be
backed up) to my DU box, I can't help but think that a true SCSI solution
might be overkill.
I have thought about a single large SCSI disk (36/50), a small SCSI RAID box
and the cost to populate/replace, and a small IDE-to-SCSI RAID box and the
cost to populate/replace.
Once I get a handle on these options I'll post a summary.
