Hello,
I just picked up a DEC 2000 Model 300 AXP system to use as a testbed for
configuration changes. It was running Windows NT 4, SP5 and humming along.
I want to install DU 4.0B on it, so I switched to boot OSF. At boot the
power up tests all run OK, then it gets to
83 BOOT SYS
INIT-S-CPU...
AUDIT_BOOT_STARTS...
AUDIT_CHECKSUM_INVALID
84 FAIL
I tried to boot from the DU 4.0B CD using >>>boot dka600, but that gives me
INIT-S-CPU...
AUDIT_BOOT_STARTS...
84 FAIL
I thought this was due to an old firmware, so I upgraded from ROM Version
1.9, Firmware Version - 34a to ROM Version 2.2, Firmware Version 370.
(The firmware upgrade I installed was from a CD labeled Alpha Systems
Firmware Update v3.9, that I think came with the DU 4.0B distribution. I
tried downloading the firmware update from
http://ftp.digital.com/pub/DEC/Alpha/firmware/readmes/dec2000.html
but I could not get it to work.)
After doing so, I get the same error messages.
I assume that this is an OSF boot configuration problem, as the machine was
working fine with NT. I'm rather new at this, and I have no documentation
for the system.
What shall I try next?
Thanks, -- Bennet
P.S. A search of the archive on AUDIT_CHECKSUM_INVALID yielded no results.
