Hi,
We have two Alpha Server's 8200 and one SW500 storage box housing 4 raidsets of 36 GB
each. Storgae box is connected to both systems over FWD SCSI. We have ASE cluster
configured where one system is hot stand by to other.
Now, the management sees to it as dead investment as one system is idle all the times.
Our applications are Oracle based. We have six databases running. All are equally important.
The way we would like to configure these systems is that one system handles three oracle
incidence and is configured to failover other three, so that there is a sort of load division
among the systems.
In detail, let us say systems are called SYSTEMA and SYSTEMB, RAIDsets are called RAIDA,
RAIDB, RAIDC and RAIDD and Oracle incidence are a,b,c,d,e and f.
What we are thinking is that SYSTEMA mounts RAIDA and RAIDB and runs oracle incidences
a,b and c ( everything pertaining to oracle for this system is kept in RAIDA and RAIDB).
Similarly, SYSTEMB mounts RAIDC and RAIDD and handles oracle incidence d,e and f.
Please note that we are talking about two different oracle installations, one for SYSTEMA in
RAIDA and RAIDB and other for SYSTEMB in RAIDC and RAIDD. In event of one system failing
other system mounts all the RAID sets and resume oracle activities which were running on
failed system alongwith its own.
Is it possible to configure ASE in such a manner?
Environment :
Differential Controller being used on both system are KZPSA-BB Rev. A11.
Digital UNIX ver. 4.0E and Trucluster V1.5
Thanks and Regards,
