Hi,
We have 2 AlphaServer 4100 runing Digital UNIX V4.0D with TruCluster V1.5
Available Server (ASE).
Both servers have 2 MC cards installed and interconnected without MC hub
virtual hub configuration) and setuped as failover pair ( one
interconnect
is primary , another - secondary).
Normaly only one interconnect is active and used for cluster comunication,
and TruCluster switches to secondary interconnect if something wrong with
primary interconnect.
I found in alpha-osf-managers mail-list that virtual hub configuration may
introduce some problems:
- "Without a hub the systems cannot determine which end has the fault and
this may result in BOTH nodes crashing."
Question 1:
In which cases nodes may crash?
We had a case then disconnecting MC cable (primary interconnect) from
shutdowned node has crashed other running node.
Question 2:
Is it possible to keep runing cluster (by shutdowning only one server in
time ) when we want replace/remove faulty MC card and how to avoid crash ?
Question 3:
Would a crash happen when disconnecting the secondary interconnect?
