Hi SysAdmins:
First of all, excuse my delay on summarizing the problem's solution.
Special thanks to: Marco Luchini, Mark Charlton, Claudio, John J. Francini,
Balaji Chandrasekar, Tom Webster, Kjell Andresen and Alan.
Here are the steps you've said me to do:
- Backup all filesystems on that disk
- Comment the swap entry in fstab file
- Halt the system, and reboot single user (boot -fl s)
- mount –u /
-disklabel –e –r /dev/rre0a
With the ed editor, I can modify partition’s sizes, but when I save the
changes, system notifies me that swap partition is in use.
I’ve noticed that, when I boot in single user mode, and I type swapon –s
system outputs swap information. So that, swap partition is in use.
I’ve two Alphaserver 2100 to make tests, and I’ll continue trying to solve
this problem.
There is a possible solution which have a pre-requisite: Make a new
partition with the desired size and make it tha swap default partition in
fstab. Then boot and work modifying the old partition. Note that it is
necessary have extra free space.
Thanks for your help.
