Problems building libstdc++ on Tru64 V4.0d

I'm trying to build a recent version of GNU libstdc++ and not getting
far. I got 2.90.6 and configured. But the compilation dies quickly.

Specifically, I get:
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I../../libstdc++-2.90.6/math -I.. -g -O2 -c -DPIC ../../libstdc++-2.90.6/math/mycabsf.c -o .libs/mycabsf.lo
../../libstdc++-2.90.6/math/mycabsf.c: In function `__mycabsf':
../../libstdc++-2.90.6/math/mycabsf.c:36: Unable to access imaginary part of complex value in a hard register on this target

Anyone have any idea if a pre-built for 4.0 exists or a workaround? I
tried building without optimizing.

Thanks,
