As always, great responses from the list.

Bottom line : Provided that all Y2K patches are installed, this model should
be okay (though one respondent indicated the possibility of NIC issues).
Original message at end.

Additional details:

Phil Hale included correspondence from Digital:

All AlphaServer systems and Alpha based workstations running Year 2000
Ready versions of the operating systems are Year 2000 Ready. DIGITAL UNIX
and OpenVMS systems. Many AlphaServer and AlphaStation systems running the
Digital UNIX or OpenVMS operating system use console firmware that does
not allow the displaying and setting of the date and time.

However, some AlphaServer systems do let the console operator set and
display the date and time.

Alan Davis replied, in part:

I don't agree with Compaq's decision not to list retired
systems on their website. They have all of the models listed
in their internal Y2K databases. They may try to sell you the
Y2K System Healthcheck. If it's worth $2k for you to find out
for sure, go for it. You can also ask questions about individual
items if you log a call with the Unix Expert Team or MVHS team
at Compaq Services. A question like "Does my DE425 ethernet adapter
comply with Y2K requirements?" should get an answer while "Is my
system Y2K compliant?" probably won't since there are too many
individual items to verify.
