tape backup nearing being full....

We are running 3.2c

Our tape (8mm 14gb) is starting to near being full on backup. Currently
we use a straight tar
to backup our files. I have another 8mm 14gb drive in a linux machine
also on the network.

Is it possible when the first tape drive gets full to point the rest of
the data to the
other tape drive in the linux machine?

Will tar do this, or do we need to go to a different backup software?

Thanks
