Compaq has announced that it will license its Tru64 UNIX V5.0
operating system for technology enthusiasts, educational institutions,
and other non-commercial users at a nominal cost of $99.00 plus shipping
costs for special handling. The licenses and media are available for
ordering in North America today, and will soon be available for ordering
worldwide. The package includes the Tru64 UNIX V5.0 operating system, a
full suite of developers' tools through the Tru64 UNIX Developers Kit,
server extensions and the most current Internet products through its
Open Source Internet Solutions (OSIS).
Under the terms of the license, the customer must agree to use the
product solely for non-commercial and non-business related individual
and personal or educational development purposes. The license grants
limited right to use the product on a single computer. Work performed
or produced as a result of use of this software cannot be made available
to other parties for remuneration.
