malloc errors on 4.0e

How do I fix the following error which is reported in my
/var/adm/messages on a Digital Unix 4.0e system

Nov 8 09:04:30 redwood vmunix: malloc failed: bucket size =
12288, #of failures = 1, ra 0xfffffc00005bd7c0
