Hi,
Can anyone help me with advice about /tmp on Digital Unix OS's.
I know /tmp is the swap partition on Solaris but the situation regarding
Digital Unix is a bit confusing.
/tmp is not referred to in the installation procedure at all ( I would expect a
recommended partition for /tmp.) I would assume that this means /tmp has no
relation to the swap partitions except that the sys_tune facility tells me to
mount /tmp on its own partition, and that the files look a bit swap-like.
Does anybody know what the role of /tmp is and how large a partition should I
give it. ( My swap partitions are all three times the amount of memory I have)
Also top always shows a discrepancy in caclculating the virtual memory in use.
eg. Memory: Real: 49M/117M act/tot Virtual: 33M/695M use/tot Free: 3920K
Can anybody help?
Thanks in advance,
Gareth Batley.
