Mail issue

Hello all!

I have run into a problem recently when emailing a plain text file from my
AlphaServer running Tru64 UNIX 4.0D. The problem is that the recipient of
the email has a firewall which does a reverse DNS lookup and rejects the
email from my AlphaServer because the sub-domain which is on the return
address of my email is not registered as a valid domain name. Our real
domain name is mem-ins.com, and the sub-domain coming from the AlphaServer
is <hostname>.mem-ins.com.

There are two possible courses of action which I could take here. The first
is to register <hostname>.mem-ins.com as a real domain, however, I don't
like the idea of broadcasting my hostnames unless there is no other way
around it. The other thing to do is to somehow modify the domain name that I
am sending from so that instead of reading as <hostname>.mem-ins.com, it
would be mem-ins.com. I think that this can be done with procmail or
foremail, but I haven't seen it in any of the documentation that I have for
them.

Has anyone done this before?

Thanks!
