Setuid C program stops working after upgrade from 4.0B to 4.0E

I have a little C program which does a "setuid 0" to adopt root privileges to
perform a command. This was working fine under v4.0B but since we upgraded to
v4.0E the program fails to adopt root privileges and the enduser cannot
perform the function any longer. Any suggestions as to what might be causing
this behaviour??
