Hello,
First, I apologize for the misleading subject.... I received replies from

The query was regarding an upgrade from 4.0B to 4.0D and what to do
regarding the AdvFS Advanced Utilities. There was a message that included
the following snippet from Dr Thomas P. Blinn about it
- ----------
You should remove the old AdvFS utilities, update your entire system to V4.0D
if it's not already at V4.0D, and then install the AdvFS utilities for V4.0D.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to REMOVE the old AdvFS utilities BEFORE you update the
system to V4.0D.
If you have an older AdvFS utilities installed and you've already updated to
V4.0D, then you should NOT remove the old AdvFS utilities (with setld). In
that case, it's much safer to just (as root) cd into /usr/.smdb. and remove
the files that are associated with the AdvFS utilities (typically AFA*).
- ----------
that the archive-search engine will not find.
I could find no details regarding deletion of the program files for the
Utilities, however, so I'm forced to assume that removing the setld
installation information and reinstalling will overwrite whatever is there
that needs updating and that there will be no files left over from the
older version that shouldn't be there.

There was a

should remove
