For my first question,
Alan thinks that There is probably an expectation that systems on a shared
SCSI bus using ASE are coordinating access to services
at some level. Two separate instances of ASE would probably
not be able to do that, risking data corruption.
Mike thinks that As for 4 nodes and 1 hsz70, you can create a 4 way ase with
this kit and
share data and services - however I'd suggest that you invest in another hsz70
that way you will reduce the changes of all services failing.
Bryan believes that there is currently a 3 host limit in an ASE per SCSI bus, so
you wouldn't be able to configure 4 nodes and one HSZ. So he suspect the answer
to my first question is a no.
At least it's not recommended by them even if it's possible. I will further
summarize if i can get any further answer.

For my second question, the answer is a consensus "yes" from all of them. Mike
has 9GB and 18GB disks on his HSZ50. Alan gives a very informative explanation
that i would like to quote it here:
The HSZ50 controller doesn't much care about disk size,
but different firmware versions are qualified for different
devices. Usually when a larger disk comes out and is
supported, a newer firmware version is released to support
it. The software kit that came with the HSZ50 should have
a "Software Product Description" that lists the supported
     devices.
In my case, a HSZ50-AX with firmware V51Z supports up to DS-RZ40-VA,
     a 9 GB disk;V5.2 added the DS-RZ1DB-VW at the 9 GB
point(info provided further by Alan). So Mike might have used a version
higher than 5.1.

My original post following:

Dear managers,

If I have 4 machines, and only one HSZ70, is it possible to set two ASE on one
shared SCSI?

My other question is: can HSZ50 support 9GB disks?

Thanks in advance,

Li
