Printing a GAP for no reason

Hello,

I have recently moved from a MIPS system to a Digital Unix system
version 4.0D. The printing on the MIPS system was System V and now on
the Dunix it is BSD. For some reason the printout of a report is
putting in a gap where it never was before and this is causing major
problems. The report has escape characters in the form ^M for new line
and ^L for new page. That is all that is used. Every line is fine
until it gets to the second last line where it prints two extra new
lines. This causes the report to run into the new page and then the new
page command sends it to a complete new page leaving a wasted page with
one line at the top.
To make things even more strange the report is fine on another printer.
Both printers are generic text printers, Brother 4318.
Any clues here????????

Many thanks
