I'm trying to write up a "pre-insallation checklist" for some software, and
am struggling on finding a way to get the following output(as non-root).

OS version, I want to make sure they are using 4.0d or higher, uname
doesn't report the d part, is there a way to get this? uname -v report 878,
what is the 878 for?

Memory Available, is there a command to find the amount of physical ram?

I can do these with uerf and grep'ing out the good info, but uerf needs
root. I can also get some of this by grep'ing the info out of
/var/adm/messages, but thats not a very relialble position(as it could get
delete, things cahnge etc..)

Any ideas? I found pinfo and that is good for the cpu type/speed.
Thanks, will summarize
