Hi,
I'm still fairly new to LSM, and I'm in a project that's rather over my
head at the moment. I've created a striped, mirrored volume of 6 18 GB
disks (striped across 3, mirrored to other 3) on sub-disks on one
machine (so that I can add mirrored/striped swap on the remaining space;
all disks were partitioned exactly the same however), and now I need to
move those disks to another machine, preferably without losing data.
Unfortunately, these are also the only disks that were LSM encapsulated on
the first machine, and are going to be the only ones on the second machine
as well, which makes things all the more difficult (seems odd to me that
you *HAVE* to have some disks in rootdg or things flake out, but I'm sure
there's some reason for it)...
Anyhow, the disks were in rootdg, so voldg deport didn't work in the first
place. I thought, fine, I'll use voldisk clearimport to get things
straightened out later. Unfortunately it seems that the utilities don't
want to import the disks, because this needs rootdg to be accessable, and
what's more the LSM configuration isn't recognized on the
second system (trying to use voldiskadm in interactive mode, it lets me
know the disk is in use by another system, I say fine, clear it, then it
can't figure out what to do with the disks -- unfortunately I no longer
have the exact error message, as the machine had to be brought back up
ASAP sans the new disks)
Any help in the matter is appreciated. This is a couple of Aspen systems
21164/533 PCI machines running DU 4.0D. More info available upon request.
Thanks!
