Firstly, I'd like to thank all who helped me with the dxaccounts query,
which I will summarise with the answers to the following questions.
To update, we are running NIS and Enhanced security with Digital Unix v4.0D.
I have the following problems/queries:
1. When I add a NIS user, with dxaccounts, it creates the user but when I
try to change the passwd it comes back with :
Password not changed: cannot access protected password entry.
This is using the passwd command which is what it says to use in the
security manual when running NIS with C2.
2. Related to 1, When I run authck -p -v it says:
testuser appears in /etc/passwd but not in Protected Password database
how do I create a protected password (prpasswd?) entry??
3. When I try to make any of the NIS maps, eg group, it returns :
updated group
Map 'ypslaves.clock.ydh.yha.com' is empty for domain 'YHS_UNIX'
Map 'ypslaves.clock.ydh.yha.com' is empty for domain 'YHS_UNIX'
pushed group
So it seems to do it but complains about this particular file, how do I
create it?? where does it exist??
I must apologise if these problems I am having are obvious but as you may be
able to tell I'm new to NIS on DEC Unix as we use yellow pages on Ultrix at
the moment and I am testing it with Enhanced security on Digital Unix before
we migrate all of the live users to it.
Thanks in advance.
