Hi All,

I need help on configuring Telnet Printer Queue on DECserver 700.

I could configure the Telnet queue but it print junk. ( As per the Network Access Server Management – Netrider.)

Please note this DECserver is after router. This DS is working fine for normal Telnet users.

Earlier we were using same queue with LAT protocol on local Network.

SETUP :

1.. Alpha D.unix V4.0E
    2.. DECserver 700
    OBSERVATION :-

1.. I used working LAT Queue & modified two parameter only, because this printer is working fine as lp3 printer. The parameters changed are,

a.. lp = _at_ds700/ds_lp3
        ( ds7 aa.bb.cc.dd added in /etc/hosts. &

ds_lp3 2008/tcp added in /etc/services )

a.. ct = remote
Rest all the entries are same, As printer & DECserver are same.

1.. Change the DECserver port charac like
    a.. protocol = telnet
b.. Telnet listener 2008 comm enabl ( Enable telnet listener to port 8 of DECserver )
1.. If I print /etc/hosts file it prints 3-4 line of this file & stop. Line start stop positions are not proper & some time it print junk.
2.. I’m able establish connection like this,

    # telnet ds700 2008

It gives message connected only. But any thing I type doesn’t comes on printer.

3.. Here I used the same printcap file as it’s working fine with LAT protocol.
4.. I tried to use the options telnetfiltrer file which gave DECserver NAS V2.2, but it did not help
May be I have to used right option - FYI.

Let us know If any clue or solution on configuring Telnet printer queue on DECserver. Let me know If more details required.

Regards

Rajesh
