I gave up trying to compile and then set up the sendmail.cf file for
sendmail.8.9.3 and decided to install it from the IASS from Compaq. All
went well on my test machine but it installed the Apache webserver which it
leaves running. Because I need to put the new version of sendmail on our
Administrative software machine, which we need to keep real secure, is
there a way to install the IASS version of sendmail without all the Apache,
Perl, LDAP etc. stuff? If not can I safely shut down Apache when I don't
need it and restart it when I do?
Thanks for your help.
