Hello, Tru64 Managers!
Here is where I stand in my project to convert one of my two AlphaPC 164SX
boxes from AlphaNT to Tru64, after getting the consensus that the ATAPI
CD/ROM was screwing the pooch:
Hardware (revised):
AlphaPC 164SX, 128 MB PC100 SDRAM
QLogic U/W HVD SCSI controller with a 9 gig U/W HVD HDD
Symbios 53c810 PCI SCSI controller with a Sony CDU625 CD player
(And Yes, I checked the SCSI cable & termination - I'm an old Mac-head
with SCSI cable testers!)
Matrox Millenium II video card (to be run in SVGA mode).
Cold boot with CD in drive:
>>>show device
dka0.0.0.7.0 DKA0 QUANTUM XP39100WD LXY4
dkb300.3.0.9.0 DKB300
dva0.0.0.0.0 DVAO
pka0.7.0.7 PKA0 SCSI Bus ID 7 5.57
>>>boot dkb300.3.0.9.0
(boot dkb300.3.0.9.0)
block 0 of boot dkb300.3.0.9.0 is a valid boot block
reading 16 blocks from dkb300.3.0.9.0
base=200000, image_start = 0, image_bytes = 2000
initializing HWRPB at 2000
initializing page table at 7ff0000
initializing machine state
setting affinity to the primary CPU
jumping to bootstrap code
The CD player spins up with flashing lights...
And here is where it *still* hangs...
Any suggestions?
Yours truly,
Daniel L. Schwartz,
Electrical Engineer.
