My question was about the error logs on one of our alphas
(DPW 500au, TU 4.0F) filling up with error messages like this:
AUDIT: Fri Dec 10 09:28:22 1999: 22975 X: client 18 rejected from IP
130.102.120.16 port 16904
These were coming one a second for 20 seconds, then a pause for
20 seconds then starting again.
Thanks to Ralph Wegner, Nikola Milutinovic and Rigoberto Corujo
for their replies.
Ralph hit the nail on the head suggesting that the Advanced
Printing Software (APX) was the culprit. I did `/sbin/init.d/apx stop'
and the errors stopped.
With a bit more testing I found that the Client Notification
Utility (pdconntf) was the problem. I'm now running the apx
without the notification daemon.
