Hi all.
I have several AS4100 servers which have Mylex RAID controller and 5 - 7 disks
(RZ29) configured as one large RAID5 disk. I always partition that disk with a,
b and g partitions for "/", "swap" and "/usr" filesystems. We use AdvFS for all
of our filesystems.
Then I create "oracle" filset within usr_domain, maiking usr and oracle share
the same physical space. Of course "df" % values for this are not obviously
correct (as described in man), but that is not my problem.
When the filesystem gets almost or completely full (95% or more) df gets stuck.
When the files are deleted "df" doesn't get it and keeps reporting highest
usage. The solution for this was reported on OSF1 newsgroups, turning diskquota
on.
But now I have another problem, turning diskquotas on doesn't reclaim freed
space. There was some situation where our usr_domain was 100% full, someone has
deleted files and THEN I turned dsikquotas on. Now "df" reports every consequent
freeing of space, but doesn't recalim what was freed prior to turning quotas on.
Any ideas, apart from umount/mount? Would unmounting one fileset be sufficient,
"oracle" for instance? I could survive that, unmounting /usr would require
shutdown and the machine is 50 miles away from me.
Nix.
