I am struggling with a really nasty problem; it appears that tftpd has
become so erratic that all our X terminals have stopped
working. Occasionally a transfer works, but most timeout or fail with an
access denied message. The log is full of messages like
Dec 13 14:02:14 platon tftpd[21023]: tftpd: read: Connection refused
and a few
Dec 13 14:02:14 platon tftpd[20908]: timer: maxtimeout reached.
Other inetd services seem to be working, e.g. telnet and ftp.
A couple of other symptoms which may or may not be relevant:
(1) messages in daemon.log immediately after startup
Dec 13 12:49:48 platon xntpd[562]: precision = 976 usec
Dec 13 12:49:51 platon [609]: **ERROR svrsys_fru_parse.c line 1031: FRU
Table revision 1.0 is not supported
Dec 13 12:49:51 platon [610]: Initializing the thresold structure
Dec 13 12:49:59 platon joind[656]:
Dec 13 12:50:01 platon joind[656]: can't find interface which received
packet
Dec 13 12:50:01 platon joind[656]: can't find interface which received
packet
(2) 'named' is very busy servicing repeated requests from one source:
Dec 13 12:10:25 platon named[26110]: XX
/134.219.28.91/238.42.231.193.in-addr.arpa/PTR
But as far as I can tell joind and named are working OK. I rebooted but it
made no difference.
I'm at a loss and have a lot of anxious users. I've made a support call
but thought I would try this list while I was waiting for them to get back
to me.
Any ideas?
Bob
