Processes aren't seen by non root acounts

Dear Managers,

I've got an alpha box with a weird situation:

If i logon with an account diferent then root, when i do a 'ps ax', i don't
see any process. I only see the process if i execute this command
logged on via root acount. Doing an 'su - account_name' doesn't work
also.

Is it a priveligies problem ?
Anyone already had this problem ?
