I had several replies on this issue , where some people have experienced
similar occurrences. Which leads me to
believe there is definitely something ' buggy' about sys_check ( hszterm )
and AdvFS. I will try and find out from
Compaq what the official stance is on this subject.

Original Post:

Recently , ( and I don't know what has changed ) we have been experiencing
the following on 4.0e systems ( PK2 ) and sys_check 111.

AdvFS I/O error:
Dec 16 03:10:39 warehouse1 vmunix: Domain#Fileset: hsz7d4#oracle74
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: Mounted on: /oracle74
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: Volume: /dev/rz42c
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: Tag: 0x0000001d.8001
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: Page: 804
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: Block: 65297456
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: Block count: 256
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: Type of operation: Read
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: Error: 5
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: To obtain the name of the file on
which
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: the error occurred, type the command:
Dec 16 03:10:40 warehouse1 vmunix: /sbin/advfs/tag2name
/oracle74/.tags/29
root_at_warehouse1:/ #

on quite a few domains, and on different systems as well. I can now clearly
attribute these down to sys_check ( which has been running
at the time ).

So the question is ... " Has anyone else seen these error's , and also
attributed them to sys_check ? "
