I'm trying to attach an external RAID (using a Chaparral K5412 SCSI-SCSI
RAID controller and three RAID 1 sets using 36GB drives) to an
AlphaServer DS20 running Tru64 UNIX 5.0 and it doesn't see any of the
RAID devices. I would like to remove all drives inside the system and
boot from one of the mirrored RAID sets, but when I boot from the 5.0
installation CD, it claims that there are no drives in the system.
The devices are listed in the SRM console as DKA100 (first RAID set),
DKA101 (second RAID set), DKA102 (third RAID set), and JKA103 (the RAID
controller/bridge). I can run "exer dka100 dka101 dka102" and it
exercises the RAID set just fine. I know that Tru64 UNIX has a problem
installing on drives that use LUN numbers other than 0, but even version
4.0F allows us to install on the first RAID set (DKA100), then later
label and mount the other two RAID sets after it is installed.
The SCSI host controller in the DS20 is an IntraServer ITI-6100
(Ultra2/LVD), which is supported and works fine with other drives. I've
also tried attaching the RAID to the existing SCSI/Ethernet combo card
in the system, and had the same results. I would like to be able to use
this Ultra2/LVD RAID if possible, so any input would be appreciated.
Regards,
David
