I received a lot of great suggestions but the one that did what I was
looking for was from Dave Vaughan:
This will show you what is currently growing:
cd /usr
touch a.a
find /usr -newer a.a

Subject: partition - files grown in last hour
How can I find out what files have recently (like within the last
hour) grown in size on our /usr partition? It is filling up at around 17M an
hour.
Thank you
