THE QUESTION WAS AS FOLLOWS:
I just did a firmware update on the KGPSA Fibrechannel
adapter on one of our Alpha 4100's running Tru64 4.0F
and Console Firmware 5.8.
The version of the KGPSA update is the latest version,
which I loaded from the 5.8 firmware CD.
When i boot up Unix, none of the Fibrechannel devices
are recognized...
Any Ideas? Do I need to revert back to an older
version of firmware?
THE SOLUTION WAS AS FOLLOWS:
1) During the process of the KGPSA firmware update,
the controller's WWID had changed. This in turn had
created 2 "New Connections" on the HSG80 Controller.
The New Connections had taken up the Offsets used by
another server using the HSG80 also. Thus my server
was only able to see the disks used by another server.
In turn the Unix device names had changed from rz17 to
rz18. I didn't realize till later that these disks
actually belonged to another server.
2) The solutions was to change the offsets of the "New
Connections" on the HSG80 controller using the
following command:
HSG80> SET CONFIG !NEWCONN18 UNIT_OFFSET=10
HSG80> SET CONFIG !NEWCONN19 UNIT_OFFSET=110
I also had to change the operating system type on the
"New Connection" using the following HSG command,
which had been reset to "NT":
HSG80> SET CONFIG !NEWCONN18 OPER=DIGI
HSG80> SET CONFIG !NEWCONN19 OPER=DIGI
3) After I did this, the system came back up perfectly
on the next reboot.
Thanks to everyone for responding, I tried all their
suggestions, and finally this worked. I had also
upgraded the EMX driver from the Unix end, during
which there were no problems.
